Interplay
An earthy finance consultant's office in central Ahmedabad, where walls, slabs, Kota and Jaisalmer stone and teakwood furniture create flowing, warm and calm zones.
Walls, Slabs, Stone
Walls and slabs do more than divide the space. They allow one area to flow into the next while still separating functions where needed, taking the design a step beyond interior decoration. Polished Kota stone unifies the floor, and bright yellow Jaisalmer stone defines movement through the space. A gentle wash of light grey lime plaster wraps the walls like a cocoon, balancing the warmth of the stone and wooden furniture with a sense of calm.
Two Distinct Zones
The office is divided into two parts. The first holds a small desk for the caretaker and a round table for meetings and discussions. The second holds the owner's cabin, an informal seating area and a balcony-like corner. Carved out of the interior using the large window, this semi-open nook is a personal retreat for a cup of coffee among indoor plants, separated only by clear glass.
Playful Details
Small square windows visually connect spaces from door to door and window to window, adding a note of playfulness against the large circular wooden handles on the glass doors. Custom teakwood furniture sits in harmony with the fixed elements, completing an interplay of materials, textures, shapes and volumes.
