657 café
A community-first café in Ahmedabad where baking is the anchor and a 'non-design' palette of raw walls and mismatched furniture lets people shape the space.
Culture Before Consumption
657 is a space where community and culture take precedence over consumption. Designed as an evolving canvas, it works as a mini cultural hub hosting intimate gigs, meet-ups, conversations and reading sessions, a platform where people come together and shape their own experiences.
Baking At The Centre
The café is an extension of its two young founders, both bakers, who see the space as a community rooted in the act of baking. Baking becomes the literal and symbolic centre around which interactions, exchanges and shared experiences unfold.
Non-Design Of The 60s
The design looks back at the cafés of the 1960s, spaces that reflected their owners rather than a conscious design. Grunge-textured walls, mismatched furniture and subtle blue accents create a raw, informal setting that lets the founders' personalities define the space.
A Living Framework
657 is not a finished interior but a framework that continues to evolve with its users, with the design stepping back so the people who use it can keep reshaping it.
