Basera Pavilion
A bamboo-lattice pavilion in Mirzapur's dense fabric where visibility, care and collective strength give women a place to gather, learn and lead.
A Place For Women
Basera is a small public plaza for a women-led community organisation in the dense fabric of Mirzapur, Ahmedabad. In a neighbourhood with little safe public space, it is a place where women can gather, learn and lead community initiatives.
Flexible Open Platform
Designed within modest space and budget, Basera is an open platform for vocational training, meetings and informal conversation. Steps and a raised platform subtly modulate the ground so the space can shift between modes of use.
Plug-In To Heritage
Beside a century-old Parsi housing structure, the pavilion acts as a sensitive plug-in, responding to both the heritage building and the street. Its openness and visibility reinforce its role as space for community discourse.
Bamboo Lattice
Built with simple, local materials, it has a translucent roof sheet for weather protection and an inner bamboo layer that diffuses sunlight. The lattice works as a canvas where elements can be hung, draped or tied for community activities.
